It's another M.L. Gardner reader spotlight! Today, we're featuring the wonderful and fabulous Janet Opoka who's support we have much appreciated. You may even recognize her name from the M.L. Gardner "Name That Book" contest we ran back in November. She won the contest with her creative title, "A Homespun Christmas". Get to know more about her.

I'm from Michigan and am a MSU fan :-)

Tell us about your family.

I am blessed to have a wonderful family. I am have been married to Gary for 35 years, a great husband and father. I bore a daughter and a son but I tell everyone I have 3 because when my daughter married in 2003 I gained another great son. I have two grandchildren, Trent 8 and Lilah 5. They are the loves of my life. I have 2 brothers and had 3 sisters unril my sis, Margee, died of bone cancer in 2008. We all rent cabins up north by Lake Michigan over Labor Day weekend. There are now 56 of us!!! We take over the whole campground!!! My grandkids always wish our summer away so they can see all of their cousins. Are you employed, retired, stay-at-home parent, etc.? What's your status and what do you do?

Retired but very active.

What are your hobbies?

Do you have I love to read, sew, crochet, knit, and I love woodworking and gardening. I've made lit glass bottles, and just bought a glass cutting kit that I'm looking forward to trying out. I decorate for every season and holiday, I love having a festive home.

Describe a typical day.

Let's see, coffee. Spend time in prayer and have a bible app that I use to go through the bible in a year, starts my day off good. Then I check social media, catch up on my word games with friends and check to see if anyone has added a chapter to their books on Wattpad. Then hubby and I split morning chores and take turns making something for that night's dinner. Then I either choose a good book, or choose one of the hobbies I mentioned above. What are 3 fun things we should know about you?

I love laughing!!! I consider myself to be optimistic and love life. I'm not a big drinker so my family loves it when I have more than one Long Island ice tea, (I guess I'm pretty funny). I love being with family or friends and having fires in the backyard with my husband playing his guitar and having sing alongs.

How did you discover M.L. Gardner?

Actually on an app called Bookbub. I read the first four books in a little over 3 days!!! I won the name the Christmas novella contest so I actually had an opportunity to speak with her on the phone. She's my kind of person, loves woodworking, her family, etc. If we lived close I'm sure we'd be woodworking buddies :-)

Do you have any vacation plans this year? Where are you going?

To Florida to visit our "snowbird" friends that don't love the snow like we do. We make multiple trips to Nortwestern Michigan a year.

What are some words of wisdom you live by?

Unconditional love solves a multitude of grief....
